We are currently enjoying the flash memory era.Flash memory along with ARM processors(embedded processors in general) had brought 'computers' to the hand from desktop. Few of the prominent types of memory cards are detailed below:
1) SD cards
Developed by SD(Secure Digital) Card Association,mainly panasonic,sandisk and toshiba.
(Board members of the association are Canon Inc., Eastman Kodak Company, Hewlett Packard, Industrial Technology Research Institute, Infineon Technologies AG, Kingston Technology Company, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., Motorola Inc., NEC Corporation, Nokia Corporation, Power Digital Card Co., Ltd., Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., SanDisk Corporation, Sharp Corporation, Socket Mobile, Inc. and Toshiba Corporation.)

Types:SD,miniSD,MicroSD,SDHC,miniSDHC,microSDHC.
SD card capacities range from 8 MB to 2 GB and from 4 GB to 32 GB for SDHC cards as of 2008.
2) Memory Stick From Sony/Sandisk
Types:Standard,PRO,DUO,PRO DUO,PRO-HG Duo,Micro(M2)
The original memory stick was available in sizes up to 128 MB, and a sub-version, Memory Stick Select allowed two banks of 128 MB selectable by a slider switch, essentially two cards squeezed into one. An 8 GB card was unveiled at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and according to Sony, the Memory Stick PRO has a maximum potential size of 32 GB.

3) xD ( From Olympus, Fujifilm)
Types:Standard,Type M,Type H
xD cards are used in Olympus and Fujifilm digital cameras and Olympus digital voice recorders; Fujifilm also made an MP3 player (xD-MP3) that used the cards. As of 2006, xD cards are available in capacities of 16 MB (16 MiB), 32 MB, 64 MB, 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, 1 GB (1 GiB), and 2 GB. xD cards have dimensions of 20 mm × 25 mm × 1.78 mm, and each weighs 2.8 grams.
4) MultiMediaCard from Siemens/Sandisk
Types:MMC,RS-MMC,MMCMobile,MMCPlus,MMCMicro
MMCs are currently available in sizes up to and including 4 GB with 8 GB models announced but not yet available. They are used in almost every context in which memory cards are used, like cellular phones, digital audio players, digital cameras and PDAs. Since the introduction of Secure Digital card and SDIO (Secure Digital Input/Output) slot few companies build MMC slots into their devices (an exception is some mobile devices like the Nokia 9300 communicator, where the smaller size of the MMC is a benefit), but the slightly thinner, pin-compatible MMCs can be used in almost any device that supports SD cards if the software/firmware on the devices support them.

File Shredder

With File Shredder you can remove files from your hard drive without fear they could be recovered. There are quite a few software tools today for retrieval of deleted files under Windows OS. Those tools, often referred to as "file recovery" software, are taking advantage of shortcoming of WIndows "delete" command that we all use regularly to delete files. Actually, the "delete" operation in Windows only removes bits of information from files so they appear deleted in OS. It is easy to retrieve those files using aforementioned specialized file recovery software.
In order to remove, or shred files permanently from your system you have to use a program that is capable of rewriting the files with random series of binary data multiple times. This process is often called shredding. That way, the actual content of the file has been overwritten and the possibilities to recover such a shredded file are mostly theoretical.

Foosball

Table football, or alternatively foosball, is a table-top game that is based on association football (soccer). Table football is normally called foosball in the United States and Canada.

To start play, the ball is served through a hole at the side of the table, or simply placed by hand at the feet of a figure in the middle of the table. This is usually the red player (or the side of the player where coins are thrown in). Players attempt to use figures mounted on rotating bars to kick the ball into the opponent's goal. A ball may travel at speeds up to 64 km/h (40 mph) in competition.

Some rules consider "360-degree shots" or "spinning" (using the palm of the hand to rapidly spin the bar all the way around, instead of using wrist action to kick the ball with a bar-mounted figure) illegal, although this is not always the case.
The winner is determined when one team scores a predetermined number of goals, typically five, ten or eleven in competition.
Foosball tables can vary in size, but a typical table is about 120 cm long and 61 cm (2 ft) wide. The table usually contains 8 rows of "foos-men", which are plastic, metal, wooden, or sometimes carbon-fibre figures mounted on horizontal metal bars. Each team of 1, 2, or 3 human players controls 4 rows of foos-men.

Foosball can also be played with four people in "doubles" style, in which there are teams of two people on either side. In this scenario, one player can control the two defensive rows and the other team member uses the midfield and attack rows.

Bangalore Internation Airport Limited ( BIAL ) will be operational on 23 May 2008

Bengaluru International Airport is a 4,050-acre (16.4 km²) international airport that is being built to serve the city of Bagalore,Karnataka,India.The airport is located in Devanahalli which is 40 km from the city. Construction of the airport began in July 2005, after a decade long postponement. It was expected to be inaugurated on March 30, 2008 but due to delays in Air Traffic services, it starts its operations from 23 May 2008. It will then take all the commercial flights (domestic and international) that are currently operating out of the HAL airport.
Future plans for the airport site envisage expansion of the terminal and runways and generous commercial development, including business centers, tax-free shops, entertainment centers, malls and office space.

A plan is also being processed for a direct rail service from Bangalore Cantonment Railway Station to the Basement Rail terminal at the new International Airport. Access on the National Highway is being widened to a six lane expressway, with a 3 feet (0.91 m) boundary wall, construction is moving ahead.
A new expressway is planned to connect the International Airport to the City's Ring Road. The Expressway, expected to be a tolled road, would begin at Hennur on the Outer Ring Road.Runway
The airport will have one runway when it commences operations in May 2008. The runway will be able to accommodate all types of aircraft including the Airbus A380.There are plans to build a second runway when the annual traffic of the airport reaches 18 million passengers per annum which is currently estimated to be around 2013-2014.

First Test Flight
On March 7, 2008 the first test flight took off from Bangalore HAL airport to BIAL. The flight was commanded by Deccan Captain Pratap Deshpande and First Office Ms. Hetal S. The Deccan flight was a brand new Airbus A320, which carried media persons and senior airline executives had 173 people on board and travelled 15 nautical miles and cruised at a low altitude all through. The test flight was delayed by one and a half hours!

User Development Fee
User Development Fee is levied to provide and maintain higher infrastructure quality and safety at the airport. This is charged to departing passengers, both domestic and international. According to the aviation ministry, charging a user development fee is part of the concession agreement for the development, construction, operation and maintenance of an airport. The fee is expected to be Rs 240 plus tax for domestic flights and Rs 520 plus taxes for international flights.

When flights start to take off from BIAL on 23 May it will be the realization of a long cherished dream for the banagalorewalas and the mixed city mass for that matter.Another mile covered for the bangalore's cruise towards india's IT hub!

Visual Studio 2008

Visual Studio 2008 codenamed Orcas, is the successor to Visual Studio 2005. It was released to MSDN subscribers on 19 November 2007 alongside .NET Framework 3.5. The codename Orcas is, like Whidbey, a reference to an island in Puget Sound, Orcas Island. The source code for the Visual Studio 2008 IDE will be available under a shared source license to some of Microsoft's partners and ISVs.[51]
Visual Studio 2008 is focused on development of Windows Vista, 2007 Office system, and Web applications. Among other things, it brings a new language feature, LINQ, new versions of C# and Visual Basic languages, a Windows Presentation Foundation visual designer, and improvements to the .NET Framework. It also features a new HTML/CSS editor influenced by Microsoft Expression Web.[52] J# is not included.[53] Visual Studio 2008 requires .NET Framework 3.5 and by default configures compiled assemblies to run on .NET Framework 3.5; but it also supports multi-targeting which lets the developers choose which version of the .NET Framework (out of 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, Silverlight CoreCLR or .NET Compact Framework) the assembly runs on. Visual Studio 2008 features a XAML based designer (codenamed Cider), workflow designer, LINQ to SQL designer (for defining the type mappings and object encapsulation for SQL Server data), XSLT debugger, JavaScript Intellisense support, JavaScript Debugging support, support for UAC manifests, a concurrent build system, among others.[58] It ships with an enhanced set of UI widgets, both for WinForms and WPF. The Visual Studio debugger includes features targeting easier debugging of multi-threaded applications. In debugging mode, in the Threads window, which lists all the threads, hovering over a thread will display the stack trace of that thread in tooltips.[60]. The threads can directly be named and flagged for easier identification from that window itself.[61] In addition, in the code window, along with indicating the location of the currently executing instruction in the current thread, the currently executing instructions in other threads are also pointed out.[61][62] The Visual Studio debugger supports integrated debugging of the .NET Framework 3.5 BCL. It can dynamically download the BCL source code and debug symbols and allow stepping into the BCL source during debugging.[63]. Currently a limited subset of the BCL source is available, with more library support planned for later in the year.

Smart phones

There is no agreement in the industry about what a smartphone actually is and definitions have changed over time.According to David Wood, EVP at Symbian, "Smart phones differ from ordinary mobile phones in two fundamental ways: how they are built and what they can do."Other definitions put different stresses on these two factors.Most devices considered smartphones today use an identifiable operating system, often with the ability to add applications (e.g. for enhanced data processing, connectivity or entertainment) - in contrast to regular phones which only support sandboxed applications (like Java games)[citation needed]. These smartphone applications may be developed by the manufacturer of the device, by the network operator or by any other third-party software developer[citation needed].
In terms of features, most smartphones support full featured email capabilities with the functionality of a complete personal organizer. Other functionality might include an additional interface such as a miniature QWERTY keyboard, a touch screen or a D-pad, a built-in camera, contact management, an accelerometer, built-in navigation hardware and software, the ability to read business documents in a variety of formats such as PDF and Microsoft Office, media software for playing music, browsing photos and viewing video clips, internet browsers or even just secure access to company mail, such as is provided by a BlackBerry.

The most common operating systems (OS) used in smartphones are:
Symbian OS from Symbian Ltd. (65% Market Share Sales Q4 2007) Symbian has the largest share in most markets worldwide, but lags behind other companies in the relatively small but highly visible North American market.[13] This matches the success of its largest shareholder[14] and customer, Nokia, in all markets except Japan. Nokia itself enjoys 52.9% of the smartphone market.[15] In Japan Symbian is strong due to a relationship with NTT DoCoMo, with only one of the 44 Symbian handsets released in Japan coming from Nokia.[16] It is used by all the major handset manufacturers, including BenQ, LG, Motorola, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.[17] It has received some adverse press attention due to virus threats (actually trojan horses).[18] Windows Mobile from Microsoft (12% Market Share Sales Q4 2007) Windows CE operating system along with Windows Mobile middleware are widely spread in Asia. (7% Market Share Sales Q4 2007) The iPhone uses an operating system called iPhone OS derived from Mac OS X. Third party applications can be made available for normal iPhone users by creating a web service that can be accessed via the included web browser. Native application support was recently announced in March 2008 and currently requires a beta version of the iPhone OS which is available to developers and corporations for testing purposes. The new release of iPhone OS should be made available in June 2008.[19] Linux operating system (5% Market Share Sales Q4 2007) Linux is strongest in China where it is used by Motorola, and in Japan, used by DoCoMo.[20][21] Rather than being a platform in its own right, Linux is used as a basis for a number of different platforms developed by several vendors, including Motorola and TrollTech, which are mostly incompatible.[22][23] PalmSource (now Access) is moving towards an interface running on Linux.[24] Another platform based on Linux is being developed by Motorola, NEC, NTT DoCoMo, Panasonic, Samsung, and Vodafone.[25] Palm OS developed by PalmSource (now a subsidiary of ACCESS). HDTV (High Definition TV)

(High Definition TV) A set of digital television (DTV) standards that offer the highest resolution and sharpest picture. Although a few HDTV sets are available in standard screen sizes, the overwhelming majority are wide screen, which eliminates most or all of the letterbox effect when watching movies in their original format (see image below). HDTV Vs. HD"HDTV" may refer to the format or to a TV set that supports it; however, "HD" refers only to the high definition format. See DTV for all the SD/ED/HD specifications.
Interlace or Progressive Scan (i or p)The first HDTV sets were available in 720p and 1080i, but not the top 1080p format. The number refers to the lines of resolution, and the letter means the signal is interlaced (i) or progressive scan (p). Many HDTV sets support only 720p, which many think preferable to 1080i for action movies and sports; however, the difference is often subjective. HDTV sets that support 1080p, which began to appear in 2005, ended the argument. See interlace.
Using sophisticated algorithms to fill in the missing lines, HDTV sets upconvert DVD, cable and satellite broadcasts from 480i or 480p to 720p, 1080i or 1080p, whichever HD resolution the TV supports. HDTV sets that support 720p, the lowest HD format, are able to downconvert 1080i material to 720p. Following are all HDTV standards (see DTV for all digital standards).
In addition, HDTV sets provide numerous zoom and stretch modes to accommodate standard TV formats, which will exist in the form of videos and DVDs for years to come (see HDTV display modes).

HD Ready or Built InAn "HD Ready" or "HD Capable" TV set means it can display 720 progressive lines of resolution (720p) at minimum and can scale up lower and scale down higher-resolution signals to fit the screen. HD Ready requires an HD set-top box from the cable or satellite company to receive HD programs. "HD Built In" means there is a built-in HD tuner for capturing HD broadcasts over the air.
Been Around a WhileSince the turn of the century, consumers have become familiar with high definition TV; however, HD was available years before that. Japan experimented with HD formats in the 1970s and 1980s and was the first to broadcast an 1125-line signal for very expensive, large-screen TV sets in the early 1990s. Both Japan and Europe's initial HD formats were analog.
For many years in the U.S., various HD formats in both analog and digital were used for creating higher-quality video than regular TV (NTSC). Wide Screen HDTVWhen a movie shot for a theater is displayed without modification on a standard 4:3 TV screen, the black lines at the top and bottom take up the unused space (the "letterbox" effect). Since almost all HDTVs have wide screens with a 16:9 aspect ratio, movies can be shown in their original format.

Antilla, the partially completed home of Mumbai-based petrochemicals giant Reliance Industries head Mukesh Ambani, will stand 27 stories high and is expected to cost $2 billion. Ambani, the fifth fifth rechest man in the world, his wife and three children currently live in a 22-story Mumbai tower the family has spent years remodeling and refashioning to meet its needs

Lobby
Nine elevators dot the lobby floor: Two are designated for parking areas, three for guest quarters, two for the Ambani family residences and two for service. The lobby opens to numerous lounges, reception areas and powder rooms. Dual stairways lead from the lobby floor down to the ballroom, which is designed in an open layout with a two-story roof.

Ballroom
The most striking features of the Antilla ballroom are the crystal chandeliers that will take up approximately 80% of the ceiling. The silver stairways lead to a central landing, behind which two retractable doors can open to display works of art. There is also a stage for entertainment or speeches, with a projection screen behind it. A kitchen, about the same size as the ballroom itself, can service hundreds of guests

Bathroom
One of Antilla's key design themes is the mix of lavish features seen in worldwide homes and elements that are distinctly Indian. The Gingko-leaf sink designs are a good example. Native to India, the leaves in the sinks are shaped in such a way that their stems guide water into the bowl created by the basket of the leaf.

Entertainment Level
It's very common in large homes to have a theater or screening room, but usually they're just large projection screens with a few nice seats. The Ambani's theater is more like those seen in George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch or Frank Pritt's Portabello Estate--a full-fledged theater, indistinguishable from a cinema. A wine room, snack bar and entertaining space, including couches and tables, fill out the room.
